UPS worldwide will charge you extra

The shipping was fast and everything arrived safely. However, I have to leave 3 stars because the low price is a scam. I was shipping gifts and I checked and rechecked UK law on exactly how to send gifts without anyone being charged unexpected customs, and went through loads of effort to make sure everything was precisely packed and labeled to ensure that there would be no charges. But there was a charge of $26 and some change applied before the package even left the US - it was labeled as customs charge but not charged by a UK carrier. It was a handling fee that brought the total cost up to above what the USPS would have charged us to ship the package through them. Messages were sent to the receiver that customs were due before the package could be delivered. I wish we would have just sent it through the USPS.

Normally I choose a FedEx drop-off option for Europe, but this time UPS was cheapest to Australia. The drop-off is more convenient for me and I like very much the UPS shop here. The only negative -- and I thought about downgrading the review a star because of it was the package took four days to deliver once it arrived in Melbourne, taking it beyond the 2 to 5 days that was noted in the quote. The package cleared customs quickly, but then just sat. But overall, it was easy and "inexpensive." I will certainly continue using ParcelMonkey for my international shipping needs for my book.
